E-cigarettes may cause cancer and heart disease, says study

They are usually marketed as a safe alternative to conventional cigarettes, but a new study suggests that e-cigarettes may still pose serious harm to health. Researchers suggest that e-cigarettes may increase the risk of cancer and heart disease. Researchers at the New York University School of Medicine in New York City found that mice exposed to electronic cigaratte ( e-cigarette ) vapor experienced DNA damage in the lungs, bladder, and heart, which could increase the risk of cancer and heart disease . Such damage was also found in cultured human lung and bladder cells that had been exposed to e-cigarette vapor for the equivalent of 10 years. Alzheimer's risk 10 times lower with herpes medication

New results could change the face of Alzheimer's treatment; the herpes simplex virus is found to play a vital role in the condition, and antiherpetic medication is shown to have a dramatic effect on dementia risk. Alzheimer's disease may soon be treated with antiviral medication. Last month, Medical News Today reported on a study that found "strong evidence" that viruses are involved in Alzheimer's disease . The postmortem analyses of brain tissue found that people who lived with this dementia type also had more herpesviruses 6 and 7 than people without Alzheimer's. Now, a scientific commentary suggests that the study that MNT covered is not the only one to pinpoint a link between herpes and dementia. In fact, three more studies have strengthened this link, and the commentary — recently published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease – takes a look at all three.

Marijuana: Good or bad?

According to the National Institutes of Health, people have used marijuana, or cannabis, to treat their ailments for at least 3,000 years. However, the Food and Drug Administration have not deemed marijuana safe or effective in the treatment of any medical condition, although cannabidiol, a substance that is present in marijuana, received approval in June 2018 as a treatment for some types of epilepsy. Marijuana is being increasingly legalized in the U.S., but is it safe? This tension, between a widespread belief that marijuana is an effective treatment for a wide assortment of ailments and a lack of scientific knowledge on its effects, has been somewhat exacerbated in recent times by a drive toward legalization. The importance of health, fitness, and wellness

Primary Components of Fitness The four primary components (also known as the components of health related fitness) that are important to improved physical health are as follows: •  Cardiorespiratory capacity  is the ability of the body to take in oxygen (respiration), deliver it to the cells (circulation), and use it at the cellular level to create energy (bioenergetics) for physical work (activity). In fitness, we also refer to cardiorespiratory capacity as aerobic capacity. This capacity includes aerobic endurance (how long), aerobic strength (how hard), and aerobic power (how fast). Some of the long-term adaptations of cardiorespiratory training are: decreased resting heart rate, decreased risk of cardiovascular disease, improved endurance, increased stroke volume and cardiac output. •  Muscular capacity  refers to the spectrum of muscular capability. This includes muscular endurance (i.e., the ability to apply force over a long period of time or to complete repeated m
